The main themes of the XXXI Economic Forum
The six plenary sessions were dominated by key topics in the context of the new challenges facing Europe, and the international lineup made it possible to place the most important themes in a broad context. The war in Ukraine and its consequences, the energy crisis in Europe, the control of public opinion through Internet giants, and the need for strong leadership in the context of shaping a post-pandemic order were among the most important topics discussed at the Forum.
Also part of the Forum was a debate with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala. During the conversation, the role of both countries in the context of helping Ukraine, both militarily, in the form of supplying equipment, and politically, was emphasized. “Our common outlook makes us exert a more effective influence together, including on our partners in the European Commission.” – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said. Both politicians spoke above all about the strong need to reflect on a vision of energy security in Europe, including independence from raw materials from Russia. PiS President Jaroslaw Kaczynski was a guest at one of the panel discussions as part of the Carpathian Europe track. The panel discussed themes of realism and values in politics. “In politics one should be guided by realism, however, one should first of all conduct politics based on respect for other people. For without respect and mutual understanding, there can be no common political success,” the Law and Justice leader said.
